A first-of-its-kind pickleball experience has chosen Dallas for its flagship location.

Pickleball simulator and fitness studio Playkout has officially opened its first-ever location in Dallas, with plans to open more throughout the Metroplex and outside Texas.

The studio uses a play-based methodology that transforms workouts into play through pickleball stations with the intention of replacing cardio machines.

“Dallas is a vibrant city and one of the largest markets in the U.S., known for its openness to innovation and willingness to embrace new experiences,” co-founder Bahigh Acuna said. “With a community that loves pickleball and a diverse array of fitness studios, Dallasites are passionate about staying active and socializing with friends.”

Located at 3501 McKinney Avenue in Uptown, Acuna and co-founder Jorge Guerrero said the flagship studio is just the beginning. The duo already has plans to open two more locations within Dallas-Fort Worth, eyeing Preston Hollow, Plano, Frisco and Southlake as potential sites.

The co-founders did not disclose the cost to open but did reveal they have filed patents for the concept’s proprietary system and methodology.

Acuna said the goal of Playkout is “to make exercise something people look forward to, not a chore.” The concept name takes work out of ‘workout’ and replaces it with play, birthing the brand Playkout, he said. The fitness studio merges group workout with digital gamification using pickleball simulators and training studio.

In addition to the pickleball-inspired group fitness sessions, Playkout also offers private simulator sessions as well as booking credits, fitness session packages and memberships. Playkout classes start at $33 per session or memberships at $115 for 4 sessions, according to its website.

“This is a place where people rediscover the joy of fitness,” Guerrero said. “We created a fitness experience that blends pickleball, technology and strength training to deliver workouts that are both fun and effective.”

Founders Acuna and Guerrero come from the technology industry, having contributed to the development websites Spotify, Ancestry and Postmates in its early stages. The duo merged their previous experience in business and technology development and the surge of pickleball throughout Dallas-Fort Worth to create and establish their concept.
