Nuri Steakhouse, an elevated East meets West steakhouse created by restaurant veteran and Dallas resident Wan Kim, will open in Uptown at 2401 Cedar Springs Rd, Suite 120, Dallas in Spring 2024.
The chic, modern restaurant opening for dinner and drinks will feature steakhouse fare with a menu crafted by Michelin Guide acknowledged Korean Chef, Minji Kim. Nuri only uses the finest choice of prime cuts of meat, seafood and poultry partnered with uniquely crafted starters and accompaniments, as well as an impressively robust wine and cocktail program.
Kim has taken the approach of creating the menu by allowing guests to give feedback and contribute to the menu at their test kitchen that currently operates as a full-service restaurant (JOA (formerly Nuri Grill) in Dallas’ Koreatown).
Senior VP of Operations, Jim Oboyski says, “Nuri Steakhouse is going to be unlike anything we currently have in Dallas. The menu our chefs are creating offers elevated cuisine drawing inspiration from the life of owner and creator Wan Kim – from Korea, to New Orleans and Dallas.”
Wan Kim, originally from Korea and the CEO of Smoothie King, has had a lifelong passion for food which led him to create Nuri Grill, JOA and now, Nuri Steakhouse.
Kim says, “Our mission is to inspire people to embrace different cultures of the world.
This steakhouse project has been a passion of mine for many years. I am thrilled to see it finally coming to life and look forward to bringing it to Dallas diners.”
The space will offer guests a feeling of warmth and elegance with luxurious materials and a muted color palette throughout. Designed by AvroKO’s San Francisco studio, the steakhouse design features an inviting main dining room and lounge area along with a large, curved bar with an impressive wine cellar encasing the space.
Boasting 9500 square feet, indoor seating for 150 in the bar and dining and outdoor seating for 50 is planned. The private dining room is available for private events, business meetings or those wanting to experience the steakhouse in a more intimate setting.
Nuri Steakhouse will open late Spring 2024 offering dinner and drinks as well as extensive private dining areas.
BOUT THE OWNER/CREATOR, WAN KIM
Wan Kim grew up in Korea and traveled all over Asia with his family experiencing differing Asian culture and cuisine. At the age of 19, he left Korea to attend college in Boston. Kim acquired his MBA in California and moved back to Korea to work for his father’s business.
In 2003, Kim decided to branch out from his family’s business to open Korea’s first Smoothie King franchise. It took a few years but in 2007, the concept blew up. Kim went from 1 – 120 units from 2003 – 2010.
By then, the market was saturated in Asia. He approached the Smoothie King founders and ended up purchasing the company and moving his family to New Orleans in 2013. Kim grew Smoothie King from producing $160 million in annual revenue to an impressive $600 million and ultimately moving his family and corporate headquarters to Dallas in 2018.
Kim brought Nuri Grill to Dallas diners Fall of 2022 and now looks forward to opening his most impressive restaurant undertaking, Nuri Steakhouse Spring of 2024.
