Law firm Fisher Phillips LLP has moved its Dallas office to Uptown from downtown as it continues to grow its presence in the region.
The Atlanta-based firm, previously located at Lincoln Plaza in downtown Dallas, now occupies more than 10,000 square feet at The Crescent in Uptown. Fisher Phillips also announced July 15 it has tapped Adam Sloustcher as its new regional managing partner in the Dallas office. Sloustcher succeeded Michael Abcarian, who had led the Dallas office since it opened in 2005.
“It is an exciting time to take the leadership reigns in Dallas as we settle into our new space and position ourselves for growth in the market,” Sloustcher said in a statement. “With its bright, fresh feel and balcony overlooking the open-air atrium below, the new space is a welcome change and exciting place to come to work.”
Fisher Phillips, which has 39 offices and more than 600 lawyers across the U.S., reports having 11 lawyers and 21 total employees in Dallas. In recent months, the firm has added four new lawyers in Dallas: Liz Drumm and Gregory Zerzan joined the firm in May, followed by Jonathan Elifson and Alen Samuel in June.
The new office is about 2,000 square feet larger than Fisher Phillips’ prior location, providing the firm with capacity for continued expansion. That’s positive news for office market observers and showcases the kind of spaces that appeal to white-collar services providers like law firms. Also on July 15, Polsinelli PC announced it has leased 41,000 square feet in the new Old Parkland East campus. And K&L Gates LLP is leasing nearly 23,000 square feet at Harwood No. 4 after a long tenure at downtown’s Comerica Bank Tower, the Dallas Morning News reported July 11.
At The Crescent, Fisher Phillips joins a building that has long been home base for many top financial services and law firms. Other law firms located there include Blank Rome LLP, Duane Morris LLP and Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP, among others.
The Crescent, which opened in 1986, spans about 1.3 million square feet on 10 acres, with offices, a hotel, stores and restaurants. A new 30-story apartment tower has been proposed at the north end of the site.
In 2022, the owner of The Crescent, Crescent Real Estate LLC, invested $12 million in renovations, which included upgrading the first-floor lobbies, artwork, lighting and other aspects of the development.
“I wanted a space that felt authentic to our tight-knit group and was modern and bright in the best part of town,” Sloustcher said. “This amazing location just strikes such a great balance between work and play and provides an atmosphere that will not only help us better serve clients but will also help us enjoy each other’s company in the energy of Uptown Dallas.”
Sloustcher relocated from California to the Park Cities to lead the Dallas office. He joined Fisher Phillips as an associate in 2016 and made a name for himself representing companies in a broad range of employment disputes. He became a partner in 2021 and has grown his practice with a reputation for defending employers in wage-and-hour class and representative actions, as well as high-level single-plaintiff civil rights cases.
After becoming a partner, Sloustcher helped create and build Fisher Phillips’ sports industry practice. The group, made up of former collegiate and professional athletes, helps professional franchises and leagues, collegiate conferences, individual colleges and universities, youth sports clubs and organizations and other organizations navigate workplace-related issues and litigation.
Sloustcher himself played collegiate soccer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Loyola Marymount University. After college, he signed a contract with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer.
Sloutscher said leading Fisher Phillips’ Dallas office is “not a responsibility that I take lightly,” and he plans to immerse himself into the market.
