About the Wines:
*Charles Gonnet Chignin white wine from Jura-Savoie. 100% Jacquere grape.
DOMAINE CHARLES GONNET
A 13-hectare estate in Chignin taken over in 2018 by the Domaine du Château de la Violette. Today, this estate produces Chignin, Chignin Bergeron, Savoyard dogfish, Rosé and Mondeuse on a very local market in the mountains and some for export to the USA. The reputation of Chignin dates back to the 11th century, as evidenced by the presence of the ruins of seven medieval towers. Today this vineyard is the third largest in Savoie and is still growing. The AOC was created in 1973
Light yellow color with white gold sheen. Straightforward nose, with exotic fruits and citrus fruits and white flowers. Supple attack of tension and balance. Hint of sweetness. Frank character on citrus fruit. Clear and acidic finish.
The nose is marked by finesse and discreetly honey-lemony notes, quince and candied grapefruit aromas. It has wonderful texture for a mountain wine, and shows notes of dried apricot, a touch of nut, minerals and white pepper. A crisp, dry finish completes the package. this surprising wine complements a wide range of cuisines and occasions!!
