An intimate and acclaimed Bishop Arts restaurant has plans to reach a new neighborhood in 2024.

Written by the Seasons, a farm-to-table dining spot with a seasonal menu, has plans to open in The Quad, an Uptown Dallas development that plans to bring five restaurants into the construction, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Named the Best New Restaurant in Eater’s 2022 awards, Written by the Seasons is located in the heart of the Bishop Arts District at 308 Melba. According to Eater, the restaurant “has quietly built up a cult following in the year that it has been open. It’s easy to see why upon stepping inside.”

The Bishop Arts restaurant will remain open, with the Uptown store serving a “similar” but “standalone” menu, owners told the Morning News.

Written by the Seasons is the second of five restaurants to be named as joining the development. The restaurants are expected to open in late 2024 or early 2025, according to the Morning News.

Ramsey March, executive managing director and partner of Stream Realty Partners, the group leading the Quad’s construction, said he became serious about bringing Written by the Seasons to the development because his wife enjoyed the restaurant so much.

In the Advocate’s 2022 feature on Written by the Seasons, Executive Chef Melody Bishop told the Advocate that the restaurant’s menu is “very approachable.”

“We don’t sit down and say, ‘OK, we need to make a dairy-free dish,’” she said. “We just think of a way to make a dish that would taste good, and organically our menu tends to have a lot of options for a lot of people.”

Chefs Dennis Kelley and Melody Bishop will be involved in developing the Uptown spot.
