STK is a ‘vibe dining’ restaurant in Uptown Dallas.
STK Steakhouse opened on Nov. 2, 2022 on McKinney Avenue in Dallas.
We should call this Uptown Dallas area Restaurant Row for carnivores; it’s a neighborhood so beefy, you can stumble into a steakhouse on every block. There’s Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, Morton’s The Steakhouse, Nick & Sam’s, The Capital Grill, Fogo de Chao and more. Hop over to downtown Dallas and there’s Nusr-Et, Dakota’s, Corrientes 348, Monarch and Bob’s.
It’s no wonder that Emanuel “Manny” Hilario, president and CEO of STK’s parent company, says in a statement that “STK will be a great addition to Dallas’ already bustling restaurant scene.” Steak, especially.
The debut was delayed, however. STK had initial plans to open in Dallas in 2015 or 2016, with the intent to “‘change the paradigm of the steakhouse’ from a boys club to a place for womens night out or date night,” we wrote in 2015.
Now it’s 2022, and the restaurant describes its atmosphere as “vibe dining.” Persons of a certain age, let’s get a definition: These are restaurants with DJs and neon lights. They’re “long, leisurely, booze-fueled meals could be had without the worry of where to head to next,” writes Megha McSwain in a chron.com story about the trend. At some “vibe dining” restaurants, servers light stuff on fire, tableside, for the drama and the show. Then they pop Champagne bottles and dim the lights.
STK serves what it calls small, medium and large steaks: things like a 6-ounce filet ($55), a 10-ounce rib-eye ($78), or a 34-ounce dry-aged tomahawk ($157 and shareable). Big spenders might be enticed by high-priced A5 Wagyu, which runs from $39 to $99 per ounce. Wowza! Each steak can come topped with a sauce like chimichurri, au poivre or béarnaise.
At power lunch, STK serves a quick three courses: salad or tuna tartare tacos; a choice of entree: steak frites, chicken breast sandwich, maple-rubbed salmon or mushroom tagliatelle; and dessert to-go.
STK opened in Manhattan in 2006 and has grown to 24 cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Doha, Dubai, Ibiza, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles and Toronto. It’s operated by The ONE Group Hospitality, which also owns Kona Grill.
