The Dolly Llama, which makes ice cream-loaded waffles, is opening its first Texas location in Dallas this month.

A Los Angeles-based dessert shop is bringing its loaded waffles to Dallas. The Dolly Llama, where waffles are served with mounds of ice cream and topped with all sorts of sauces and sweets, opens May 28 on Howell Street near McKinney Avenue.

The shop, which opened in Los Angeles in 2017, makes Belgian waffles and the internet-famous bubble waffles from Hong Kong, and turns them into ice cream-loaded creations fit for Instagram feeds. Their goal is to reinvent a breakfast classic and “prove that all waffles don’t need syrup.” There are three locations in the Los Angeles area, but a rapid nationwide expansion is in the works.

The Dallas location is part of an “aggressive and immediate franchise expansion plan across the country,” according to a news release from the company. Nine other franchise locations are set to open around the country by the end of the year, including one in Houston and one in Beaumont.

“Franchising and expansion outside of our home market are our priorities this year, and we’re beyond excited to kick it off with our Dallas, Texas location,” Eric Shomof, co-founder of The Dolly Llama, said in a statement.

The Dolly Llama will open at 2817 Howell St., Dallas. thedollyllama.com.
