Trammell Crow Co. plans 27-story high-rise on McKinney Avenue.

Plans for a new Uptown Dallas high-rise project are moving ahead.

Trammell Crow Co. plans to build the 27-story office and retail tower at McKinney and Maple avenues just north of downtown. It’s one of the largest Dallas real estate developments announced in the last year.

Crow Co. plans to build the 2401 McKinney tower on a more than 2-acre site next to the Crescent that’s occupied by Truluck’s restaurant and Gold’s Gym.

Dallas’ plan commission just gave the go-ahead for the project. The development still needs final approval by the City Council.

Truluck’s will be the anchor retail tenant for the project, which will be designed by Connecticut-based architect Pickard Chilton, and Dallas’ HKS.

The building will contain 670,000 square feet of offices, 15,000 square feet of retail and underground parking.

Crow Co. hopes to start construction on the building this year.
