Allegheny Technologies takes office space in McKinney & Olive tower.

A global manufacturing firm that specializes in aerospace materials is opening an office in Dallas’ Uptown district.

Allegheny Technologies Inc. is taking more than 15,000 square feet of office space in the McKinney & Olive office high-rise on McKinney Avenue north of downtown. The office is set to open early next year.

Allegheny Technologies is based in Pittsburgh and has operations in 17 countries in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

The company specializes in materials for aircraft, defense products and components for the oil and gas industry. ATI has revenue of more than $3 billion a year.

The company’s Dallas office will be on the 11th floor at McKinney & Olive, which was developed by Fort Worth-based Crescent Real Estate.

“As part of our ongoing transformation to become an aerospace and defense leader, ATI is newly establishing an office in Dallas,” ATI’s Natalie Gillespie said in an email. “We expect this to open in the first quarter of 2022.”

Gillespie said the office will initially have fewer than 10 workers. But the space could house a much larger workforce, based on the size of the office.

DLR Group/Stafflebach is designing the office.

ATI just announced that it will move its longtime headquarters from downtown Pittsburgh to a new building in a redeveloping area on the Allegheny River next year.

The new headquarters will be about half the size of what the company currently occupies in downtown Pittsburgh and will only house about 100 workers. “That’s due to the adjusted needs brought on by remote work,” ATI officials said in recent media reports.
